Reawakening

I officially, reopened Project Silver Star (PSS) as a in-development project as of today. I mentioned before that I have been doing some offline design work for it and I have some good ideas to add to the existing design and a lot of things to cut. At its heart, PSS is a top-down vertical scrolling shooter with some minor tweaks of individuality and ideally higher standards for the genre.

Right now, the goal is to produce a bare-bones skeleton by the end of December. As I do some more planning, I'll lock in a specific date. I want to aim for Christmas Eve around 6PM (making it officially Christmas Eve everywhere) but I might need the extra six days so we'll see.

You'll have to remember while making a shoot-em-up isn't usually that consuming, I am reteaching myself C++ and learning the implementation of common design principles at the same time. I reason that with my free time I should be able to produce about a weeks worth of development over the course of the next 4-5 weeks.

Like I said, I'm aiming for a bare-bones skeleton. That means basic input functionality and no original art assets. Once that is in place I can work on learning to make the various models and textures while hunting down sound pieces. I'm not too concerned with all of that right now. I'm worried about just achieve this first step.

My laptop is ready to roll on development right now and my desktop needs to be setup but that really doesn't take long. Another thing I'll worry about later is setting up the Linux installation for testing multi-platform compatibility. I easily get overwhelmed with thinking of the big picture I don't make it past the initial hurdles. Good thing we're in a state of change right now.

I'll hopefully be making my next update soon when I have something to show. It'll probably just be a blank window.
