Well, the term "Tablet PC" used to mean w/o keyboard, but when that didn't catch on they started developing hybrid notebooks. This may be another reason they're avoiding the term, because it now has a different meaning. But then why use "netbook"? Another possible reason is that Microsoft was trying to push the Tablet PC concept in the early 2000s. <br/><br/>But the biggest reason is probably term popularity. It's about as accurate as calling it a extra large iPhone.<br/><br/>BTW, I voted for "mininote." The term "netbook" reminded me too much of those crappy net box products. Oh well. Hm. I think the rationale is that: it's a low power (in terms of CPU) device that's main purpose is web surfing and light word processor usage (like note taking) and maybe a little e-book reading?
