Where’s the next-next-gen?

So my friend's 360 died...again...

That brings the total to 3 systems in 3 years. I think he has bad luck and to top it off, his system is almost constantly in-use (yay for college dorms).

Even with my love for Microsoft's gaming division, I can't justify this.

The ridiculous hardware failure rate is not even the worst of it. I realized today that the increased level of multi-platform titles reaching the PC has almost destroyed my interested in picking up a 360.

The Microsoft 360 controller works perfectly for the PC and games ported to PC often come with upgrades and work flawless with the 360 controller.

Take Assassin's Creed -- made to use the controller and I get to run the game in beautiful 1680x1050 resolution. The only thing I'm really missing out on are Achievements and Gamerscore. Once Valve/Microsoft/My-Future-Independent-Game-Studio implements an "Xbox Live"-esque system for the PC, I'll be golden.

Mass Effect is officially coming with an updated HUD made for PC and I'm pretty sure they'll be including the downloadable content.

Grand Theft Auto, always, releases on PC. I don't need an official date announced. Mass Effect didn't have one until a little while ago anyway.

Devil May Cry 4 hits on PC in June and if DMC3 was any indicator will be a bland-no frills port. Which actually isn't a problem this time around since the game was made with HD in mind.

Now if only I could get Ikaruga, Super Puzzle Fighter, a few more XBLA titles, and the new iterations of popular fighting franchises ported to PC. I think I'd throw dreams of playing on a 360 out the window.
